SERIES NOTES
- Duke and Wofford are meeting for the 4th time in program history and just the 2nd time with John Kerr as head coach of the Blue Devils
- The Terriers are coming off a 6-9-2 season, the best record under head coach Joel Tyson and the best program record overall since the 2016 season. The Terriers ended the regular season with two road victories over VMI and Winthrop before falling in the SoCon Tournament, 2-3, against Furman
- Duke takes on a Southern Conference opponent for the second time in as many games after defeating Furman, 6-0, on Sunday
JOHN RENNIE INVITATIONAL CHAMPS
- Duke started the season with two wins, claiming the 2023 John Rennie Invitational title
- The Blue Devils rallied past Jacksonville, 3-1, in their first match of 2023 and defeated Furman, 6-0, to close out the event with nine total goals and unblemished 2-0 record
- Forster Ajago was named MVP following his hat trick against Furman and was joined on the All-Tournament team by Nick Pariano (1 G, 2 A), Julian Eyestone (8 saves, 1 shutout) and Antino Lopez - who played all 180 minutes as a defensive anchor
- John Kerr earned his 150th victory as head coach of the program with the Blue Devils' win against Jacksonville
OPENING OFFENSIVE OUTBURST
- Duke's offensive attack showed its potential in the first two matches of the season, scoring 9 goals and finishing with 25 total points
- Forster Ajago logged the first hat trick since Thorleifur Ulfarsson ('21), with the Dayton transfer scoring three times in less than 50 minutes of play
- Five other players joined Ajago on the scoresheet - Fahmi Ibrahim tallied a brace in less than a minute and Drew Kerr scored his first career goal while Nick Pariano, Ruben Mesalles and Jai Bean each opened their ledgers for the 2023 campaign

- 4 - Highest preseason ranking for the Blue Devils since being tabbed fourth nationally prior to the 2007 season
- 46 - Consecutive seasons by the Duke men's soccer team with at least one All-ACC honoree (had 4 in 2022)
- 7 - Consecutive home openers won by the Blue Devils. Duke defeated Jacksonville 3-1 this season and its last non-victory in a home opener was a 1-1 draw against San Diego in 2016

- The Blue Devils began their 2023 season ranked No. 4 in the country by United Soccer Coaches
- The ranking is the highest Duke has started a season since 2007, when it also was tabbed fourth
- The Blue Devils remained a top-five team in the Week 1 USC poll, moving up one spot to No. 3 nationally. It is the third time in program history that Duke has been a top-five team in the first two polls of the season ('07, '96)
