Duke Sets Sights on Super Regional Meeting with Virginia

DURHAM – After securing the third Super Regional bid in program history, the Blue Devils (38-22) head to Charlottesville, Va., to face off against Virginia (48-12) for a trip to Omaha. Duke enters play after defeating Coastal Carolina in game seven of the Conway Regional, punching their ticket to the Super Regionals this weekend.

Virginia defeated Army and ECU twice last weekend at Disharoon Park to sweep the Charlottesville Regional.

The last time these two programs met this season, Duke baseball went into Disharoon Park and defeated the No. 13 ranked Cavaliers twice to take the series from the Hoos.
Duke baseball won its third regional in program history on Monday evening in Conway, S.C., defeating host Coastal Carolina, 12-3. The three regional wins under head coach Chris Pollard are tied with North Carolina for the most Super Regional appearances since 2018.
Duke is one of two teams from the state of North Carolina to advance to the Super Regionals this weekend, joining Wake Forest who is the number one overall seed. While advancing to the Super Regionals against Virginia this weekend, the ACC is guaranteed to have a team in Omaha this season, as the winner of this weekend's battle advances to the College World Series.
The Blue Devils have recorded 302 of its 470 runs scored so far this season from the fourth to eighth innings. That number accounts for 64.3% of the Blue Devils' runs this season.
Graduate transfer MJ Metz had himself a regional weekend in Conway, earning All-Conway Regional Designated Hitter and Most Outstanding Player. He finished the week 8-for-18 (.444) with four home runs, four runs scored and eight RBI.
