Blue Devils Travel to Lynchburg for Final Meeting with Liberty

DURHAM – Duke Baseball (15-9) heads to Lynchburg, Va., on Tuesday afternoon to face off against the Liberty Flames (11-12) at the Liberty Baseball Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. and is the final meeting between the two programs for the 2023 regular season.

The Blue Devils enter play after a series loss to No. 15 North Carolina, while the Flames took two-of-three from Austin Peay in Lynchburg last weekend.

The Blue Devils and Flames met earlier this season with Liberty defeating Duke 8-6 at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Duke had the tying runner at the plate in the ninth inning. Since the loss to Liberty, Duke Baseball has not posted a record of .500 or below.
Head coach Chris Pollard collected his 700th career victory on Friday at No. 15 North Carolina, 8-5. Pollard has split his 700 victories between three stops, including Pfeiffer (141), Appalachian State (244) and Duke (315). Pollard collected his 300th win at Duke during the 2022 season.
Freshman Andrew Fischer has slashed .329/.699/.444 since his insertion into the lineup in early February. He leads Duke with seven home runs, the most by a freshman under Coach Pollard and the most by a freshman in program history since 1963 when Biff Bracey hit seven home runs his freshman campaign.
