DURHAM - Through three rounds of pool play during the third day of competition at the 2023 NCAA Fencing Championship, the Duke fencing team is in ninth in the team standings with 57 points.Â
Notre Dame is currently in first with 159 points, followed by Princeton (146), Columbia (130), Ohio State (107) and Harvard (101) to round out the top five.Â
Freshman saberist Kunling Tong currently sits at 16th through day one in her first NCAA Championship appearance while junior foilist Christina Ferrari is in 16th in her respective event. Fellow foilist Rachel Koo is right behind in 17th. Anneke Zegers (saber) and Chloe Beittel (epee) are in 22nd and 23rd, respectively.Â
The Blue Devil women will compete in their final two rounds of pool play in their respective weapons Sunday and will attempt to move up the leaderboard with their focus on a top-four spot. The four fencers in each weapon with the best marks will advance to the semifinals of a single-elimination bracket of 15-touch bouts.
The women's semifinals and finals will air on ESPN+ starting at 1:30 p.m., on Sunday. The team championship is a combined title for the men and women.
