DAVIDSON, N.C. - Two Blue Devils had milestone days as the 11th-ranked Duke women's lacrosse team captured an 18-9 victory over Davidson Wednesday evening in Davidson, N.C.
Olivia Carner and Maddie Jenner reached the 100-point threshold in the victory, becoming the 35th and 36th Blue Devils in program history to reach the milestone.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Three Blue Devils — Carly Bernstein, Anna Callahan and Jenner — registered hat tricks in the victory while Katie DeSimone led team in points with five (2G, 3A).
- Davidson was first on the board 90 seconds into the contest before Duke's scoring took over. The Blue Devils held a solid 7-2 lead through the first 15 as Callahan tallied three early goals. Six different Blue Devils had a hand in the lead.
- Duke tacked on four more goals as Bernstein tallied two to bring her point total to four (3G, 1A) for the first half.
- With an 11-4 lead after intermission, Davidson outshot Duke 8-6 in the third quarter and scored four goals to Duke's three. Duke's defense remained tough and held a 14-8 advantage after 45 minutes of action.
- DeSimone connected on her second goal of the evening off a man-up free-position opportunity to start the fourth quarter scoring. Schmalz found the back of the cage 40 seconds later to push the lead to eight (16-8) with under 10 to play. Duke netted two more to round out the non-conference action scoring.

- Duke moves to 2-0 this season.
- Wednesday's win was head coach Kerstin Kimel's 334th-career victory and Duke's 330th all-time win.
- Duke now has 17 consecutive wins over Davidson (17-0).
- Freshman goalie Madison Drebing saw her first minutes of action in a Duke uniform at the start of the second quarter. She finished the contest with four saves.
- Eight different Blue Devils tallied a caused turnover while Julia Schwasnick and Lexi Schmalz added two ground balls each.
- Bernstein and Schmalz's points this evening were career highs.
- Jenner grabbed 11 draw controls as Duke won the battle at the draw 20-11.
- Davidson was led by Riley Cochrane and Erin Cooke with two goals each.
