DURHAM – The Duke wrestling program is set to open the 2023-24 season on the West Coast as the Blue Devils go head-to-head with No. 15 Rutgers and Cal Poly on Friday at 7 p.m. (ET) and 9 p.m. (ET), respectively. Duke then continues the road trip on Saturday, traveling north to Stanford for a dual match against the Cardinal at 7 p.m. (ET).

Glen Lanham enters his 12th season at the helm of the Duke wrestling program. Under his guidance, Duke has sent at least one wrestler to the NCAA Championships every year since 2009 and has gone 11 consecutive seasons with at least one NWCA Scholar All-American.

Gaetano Console will serve as the team's captains for the 2023-24 campaign. The trio of Blue Devils were selected to serve as captains for the first time in their careers.

Preston Decker is making the biggest jump from 157 to 174.
•   Papcsy moves up one weight class from 141 to 149 and junior
Logan Ferrero will stay put at 157 after making the jump from 149 early last season.
•   Barket steps into the starting lineup at heavyweight, moving up one spot from 197 pounds.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE SERIES
RUTGERS
Rutgers and Duke will face off for the second time in program history. Rutgers is 1-0 all-time against the Blue Devils, winning the only previous meeting, 28-6, on Feb. 7, 2004, during a neutral-site dual in College Park, Md.
CAL POLY
Duke's dual with Cal Poly will mark just the second meeting all-time between the two programs. The Blue Devils won the first meeting, 28-18, in San Luis Obispo, Calif., on Jan. 17, 2016.
STANFORD
Stanford leads the all-time series, 2-0, after first meeting in 2014 in Durham. The pair last met Jan. 16, 2016 with the Cardinal securing a 27-15 victory in Stanford, Calif.
