DURHAM – The No. 12 Duke rowing team will take on a pair of top-10 ranked teams on Saturday when it heads to Columbus, Ohio for the Big Ten/ACC Double Dual.
RACING SCHEDULE
- The Blue Devils will compete in six races against No. 9 Ohio State in the morning session, beginning with the Third Varsity Eight at 9:20 a.m. ET. Duke's Varsity Eight wraps up the morning slate when it takes on the Buckeyes' top crew at 11 a.m.
- The afternoon session pits the Blue Devils against No. 4 Michigan, with the 3V8 once again kicking it off at 1:10 p.m. ET.
- The Third Varsity Four is set to follow at 1:30 p.m., before the 2V4 at 1:50 p.m. and the Varsity Four at 2:10 p.m. Duke's 2V8 lines up at 2:30 p.m. before the V8 closes out Duke competition at 2:50 p.m.
HOW TO FOLLOW
- Each race at the Big Ten/ACC Double Dual will be broadcast on Big Ten Network+. Viewership will require a subscription, with ability to purchase different packages available here.
- Results of each race will be posted on the Duke Rowing Twitter account.
LAST TIME OUT
- Duke closed out one of the most successful regattas in recent program history at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invite, sweeping all 18 of its races on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn., March 19-20.
- The Blue Devils and No. 11 Yale were the only programs to take first place in each of their races on the weekend. Duke faced ranked opponents in No. 16 Alabama, No. 17 Wisconsin and No. 20 Tennessee.
- Duke went 12-for-12 on the opening day of races, highlighted by the 2V4 winning both of its events by over 15 seconds.
- The Blue Devils carried their momentum into Sunday, when the 3V4 and V4 each grinded out victories of less than four seconds to preserve a Duke sweep.
- The 3V8 capped off the weekend by outracing Navy by over nine seconds to make it a perfect 18 wins for Duke.
"I'm proud of the whole team," said head coach
Megan Cooke Carcagno following the regatta. "I feel like they really started to think as 'Us' instead of 'I,' and it was noticeable. The amount of energy that they brought to each other across the whole regatta was noticeable. They did a very good job."
DUKE IN THE RANKINGS
- The fourth Pocock/CRCA poll of the spring season was released Wednesday with the Blue Devils ranked No. 12 nationally.
- Duke has held a spot in the top 20 in each of the last 25 released polls dating back to April of 2019.
- The Blue Devils were ranked for the entirety of last season, concluding the spring at No. 16.
- Duke is one of three ACC teams ranked in the current poll alongside No. 11 Virginia and No. 14 Syracuse.
Following Saturday's regatta, the Blue Devils turn their attention to the Big Ten Invite held April 15-16 in Sarasota, Fla.
