- Sophomore Mark Williams, a finalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year, leads the ACC and is 11th nationally in blocks (3.14). Williams is 38-of-49 (.776) from the field and averaging 12.7 points over Duke's last seven games.
- Freshman AJ Griffin set a Duke freshman record for three-point accuracy with his 5-of-5 at Louisville and scored a career-high 27 points at UNC. He is averaging 20.7 points over the last three games.
- Griffin is the only power conference player -- and one of nine players nationally -- shooting .500+ from three with a min. of 50 attempts.
- Sophomore Jeremy Roach has a 6.83-to-1 assist/turnover ratio over Duke's last seven games (41 assists, six turnovers). He is second in the ACC and 13th nationally for the season (3.0-to-1).
- Duke leads the ACC in both field goal defense (.400) and three-point defense (.300) -- one of just two power conference teams this season holding opponents to .400/.300 or worse (LSU).

Virginia has won two straight and three of the last four to improve its ACC record to 8-5, good for sixth place … Leading the ACC and 10th nationally in scoring defense, the Cavaliers are yielding just 59.5 points -- 54.2 points in their 14 wins … A pair of transfers are UVa's leading scorers in Jayden Gardner (ECU) -- 14.3 points and Armaan Franklin (Indiana) -- 12.3 points … Virginia (1.42) is second to Duke (1.67) in assist/turnover ratio in the conference and the teams are also the top two in the ACC in blocked shots -- Duke at 5.41 and Virginia at 4.74 … Only three teams have scored 70+ versus Virginia -- Iowa (75-74 loss), North Carolina (74-58 loss) and NC State (77-63 loss).

GRIFFIN MAKES DUKE FRESHMAN HISTORY

AJ Griffin is averaging 20.7 points and shooting 9-of-13 from three-point range over Duke's last three games -- road wins at Louisville, Notre Dame and North Carolina … Griffin is the only power conference player -- and one of only nine players nationally -- shooting .500 or better from three-point range with a minimum of 50 attempts … At Louisville, he matched his then-career high for points (22) while hitting 5-of-5 from three-point range to become the first Duke freshman to hit 100 percent behind the arc (min. five attempts) … Of his three-pointers at Louisville, two came on consecutive possessions that made the score 65-60 and 68-60 -- part of a 14-5 game-closing run by the Blue Devils after the Cards tied the score at 60-60 with 8:28 remaining … He scored 13 points with a career-high nine rebounds at ND … The Ossining, N.Y., native exploded for a career-high 27 points at UNC -- the fourth most by a Duke freshman in their debut game against the Heels … Of his 27 points, 10 came to start the second half as he single-handedly keyed a 10-0 run that took Duke's lead from 39-28 to 49-28 … He has reached double figures in eight of the last 11 games … A knee injury in the preseason set Griffin back over the first half of the season. Paolo Banchero is looking to keep that run going in 2021-22, as the six-time ACC Freshman of the Week leads all true freshman nationally in scoring (17.5) and is second among true freshman in rebounding (8.4) … Duke is 10-2 this season when Banchero leads the team in scoring … He has led Duke in scoring in nine of the last 11 games … Of his nine 20-point games this season, seven have come against power conference teams -- six in ACC play -- in addition to 21 points in the win over Gonzaga in Las Vegas … Banchero is averaging 18.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and shooting .480 from the field against the ACC, Kentucky, Ohio State and Gonzaga … The Seattle native is averaging a double-double over Duke's five-game winning streak with 15.8 points and 10.8 rebounds. He has six double-doubles this season, including four over his last six games … Banchero is sixth in the ACC in scoring (17.6), fourth in rebounding (8.4) and 10th in field goal pct. (.490). SHARING AND SHOOTING THE ROCK
Duke enters the game with the nation's third best assist/turnover ratio of 1.67. The Blue Devils also rank top 20 nationally and lead the ACC in field goal shooting (.487, ranked 11th in the NCAA) and assists (17.7, ranked ninth) … Duke has had a positive assist/turnover ratio in 19 of 22 games -- its only games with a negative ratio came in wins over Kentucky, Virginia Tech and Notre Dame … The Blue Devils posted their best assist percentage in the Jan. 22 win over Syracuse, dishing out 25 assists on 30 made field goals (83 percent).
