Series History
- Duke and Pittsburgh play for the 11th time overall and the 10th as conference opponents. The Blue Devils are 6-2-2 overall against the Panthers, however the series is tied 2-2-1 in the previous five outings.
- Pitt won the ACC Tournament matchup in the fall, edging Duke 2-1 with a second-half goal as well as benefiting from Duke hitting the woodwork twice.
Last Time We Met
- Duke hit the woodwork twice and outshot top-ranked Pittsburgh, 15-12, but ultimately fell to the Panthers, 2-1, in the ACC Championship Quarterfinal in November. Pitt's second goal in the 62nd minute was the difference.
- Stephen O'Connell registered the goal for the Blue Devils as Duke held the Panthers to their lowest goals total in a game at the time.

- Pittsburgh head coach Jay Vidovich relies heavily on his starting XI as only 11 Panthers are averaging more than 30 minutes per game this season. Nine players have started in every game they've played and junior midfielder Jackson Walt and goalie Nico Campuzano have been on the field for every minute. Only six Panthers have played in every game.
- Senior Matt Bailey is the top player off the bench, averaging 31 minutes per game for the season. Senior Sito Sena will help bolster the Pitt lineup, having played 180 of the 270 minutes this spring after playing in just two games in the fall.
About Pittsburgh
- Pittsburgh comes to Durham ranked seventh nationally and holding 9-2-0 overall record and a 5-1 mark in conference play. The Panthers are coming off a 1-0 home win over Boston College after suffering its worst defeat of the season in a 3-0 road loss at North Carolina.
- Pitt has just two shutouts this season, both of them coming this spring. The Panthers are allowing 1.36 goals per game and 10.1 shots per game. In goal, Nico Campuzano has played every minute and sports a 1.34 goals against average and a .706 save percentage.
- The Panthers feature one of the nation's top scoring offenses, averaging a league-best 2.27 goals per game. Pittsburgh was outstanding in the fall, outscoring its opponents 23-12. However, in the three spring contests, Pitt has managed just two goals. Valentin Noel paces the offense with eight goals and two assists, while Veljko Petkovic has six goals and three assists. Bertin Jacquesson is the top playmaker with five assists.
Blue Devil Stats Breakdown
- The Blue Devils are 3-8-2 overall after falling to Notre Dame last week. Duke is 3-5-0 in conference action.
- Head coach John Kerr has arranged a challenging 2021 slate, featuring three non-conference games against teams ranked in the top 25 or receiving votes in the polls. In all, Duke will play five teams this spring currently ranked in the USC top 25.
- Junior goalkeeper Eliot Hamill has been outstanding in goal for the Blue Devils this spring. After spending the past three seasons behind Will Pulisic, Hamill earned his first start against Charlotte to open spring action. It was the first time the Blue Devils had a new face in net in 67 games. In four starts and five games overall, Hamill has 17 saves and sports a 0.773 save percentage and a 1.00 goals against average. That would place him tied for 76th and 74th, respectively, among all Division I goalies.
- With a goal and an assist at Virginia Tech, Nick Pariano climbed to the top of the scoring list with two goals and four assists for eight points. Jack Doran, Stephen O'Connell and Daniel Wright all have three goals apiece.
- Creating opportunities hasn't been the issue for Duke as the Blue Devils average 9.85 shots per game – sixth in the ACC. In Duke's five games this spring, it is averaging 11.2 shots per game.
Super Sub Options
- While Pitt appears to go to the bench more sparingly, Duke has fared well when bring subs onto the field both in the first and second half. Sixteen Blue Devils are averaging over 30 minutes per game and 13 have played in every contest.
- Arguably the top spark off the bench for the Blue Devils has been rookie Nick Pariano. Averaging just over 56 minutes per game, Pariano has earned four starts in his 12 outings. However, seven of his eight points have been scored when coming off the bench.
- Conor Kelly and Scotty Taylor both give the Blue Devils a boost as can Daniel Wright. All three not-only scoring presence, but also experience as they've each played in at least 28 games.
