GREENSBORO, N.C. – Six Blue Devils reached an event final throughout the third day of the 2021 Men's ACC Swimming & Diving Championships on Friday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.

Three Blue Devils competed in the bonus final of the 100 breaststroke. After breaking the school record in the 200 individual medley yesterday, junior
Cole Reznick placed 19th overall in the event with a career-best time of 53.32, moving him to seventh in the Blue Devil history books.

Junior
Colson Zucker and senior
Adam Zimmer also reached the finals in the event with preliminary times of 53.72 and 54.20, respectively. Zucker's mark places ninth in the all-time chart. In addition, sophomores
Will Tenpas (55.16) and
Phil Gong (55.52) recorded career-best times in the morning session.

In the 100 butterfly, sophomore
Charlie Gingrich was Duke's lone representative in the finals. Gingrich placed 20th in the event after qualifying with a time of 46.78 in the morning session which vaulted him to second all-time at Duke in the event.

Gingrich's time was one of three times that placed in the all-time school chart as junior
Matthew Whelan (47.07) and freshman
Luke Johnson (47.86) now sit fourth and eighth at Duke, respectively. Sophomore
Nick Talati (48.10) and freshman
David Chang (49.04) also swam career-best times.

Junior
Everett Werner reached the 'C' Final of the 400 individual medley. In the final, Werner touched in 3:50.27, a career-best and third in program history, to win his heat. Although placing 17th in the event, Werner swam the 13th-fastest time in the event in the evening.

In addition to Werner's success in the 400 IM, sophomore
Nick Viers and
Brendan Driscoll also swam career-best times of 3:55.38 and 4:01.43, respectively in the morning session. Viers time moved him to ninth all-time at Duke.

Junior
David Hallaron swam a 1:36.01 in the morning preliminaries to reach the finals of the 200 freestyle. He placed 19th in the event. Sophomore
Chris Dalla Valle (1:39.09) and freshman
Zach Wassmer (1:42.03) also secured career-best times in the event.

Duke concluded the night in the 400 medley relay. The Blue Devils placed 10th in the event as Hallaron, Zucker, Gingrich and Reznick touched in 3:13.75.

The Blue Devils will wrap up the Championships on Saturday with the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. while the evening action will begin at 6 p.m., at the GAC in Greensboro, N.C.
