GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Duke men's swimming and diving team placed 10th (341 points) in the 2021 Men's ACC Championships as the four-day meet concluded Saturday night at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.

Duke's men recorded 32 career-best times and made 13 finals appearances in the week of competition. In addition, the Blue Devils swam 19 times that placed in the Top-10 charts of Duke history, including 11 Top-5 times.

On Saturday, Duke saw five swimmers make the finals.

Three men reached the 200 butterfly finals, led by junior
Matthew Whelan in the 'B' Final. Whelan secured a 12th-place finish in the event after swimming the second-fastest time in program history in the preliminaries (1:44.68). Sophomores
Chris Dalla Valle and
Nick Talati competed in the bonus final and both swam career-best times of 1:46.20 and 1:46.63, respectively, throughout the day. Dalla Valle's time ranks third all-time at Duke while Talati sits fourth.

Junior
Cole Reznick served as Duke's lone finalist in the 200 breaststroke. Reznick reached the 'C' Final of the event after swimming a 1:58.34 in the morning preliminaries. Sophomores
Nick Viers (1:59.71) and
Will Tenpas (1:59.93) recorded career-best times in the event in the preliminaries. Viers time was placed 10th in the all-time chart.

In the 200 backstroke, junior
David Hallaron reached the bonus final of the event. Hallaron placed 20th in the event with a time of 1:44.37, narrowly missing his career-best time of 1:44.31. In addition, junior
Everett Werner recorded a career-best mark of 1:48.75 in the morning.

Sophomore
Brendan Driscoll and freshman
Zach Wassmer recorded career-best times in the 1650 freestyle. Driscoll placed 19th in the event with a time of 15:22.35 that vaulted him to fourth in program history. Wassmer's time of 15:30.44 placed 25th and moved him to ninth on the Duke chart.

Sophomore
Charlie Gingrich's time of 44.07 in the 100 freestyle placed ninth all-time at Duke.

In the final event of the ACC Championships, the quartet of Gingrich, Hallaron, Reznick and Whelan placed 10th in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 2:56.44.
