2011 - Men's Basketball - Mike Krzyzewski was honored with the Dr. James A. Naismith Good Sportsmanship Award, which honors individuals for sportsmanship, positive contributions to the game and a lifelong dedication to the sport.
June 30
1999 - Men's Basketball - Elton Brand became the second Blue Devil in history to be drafted with the No. 1 overall pick by the Chicago Bulls.
2010 - Men's Basketball - With contributions from Kyrie Irving and Josh Hairston, and coached by Jeff Capel, the USA Basketball Men's U18 National Team fought back to defeat Brazil, 81-78, and claim the FIBA Americas U18 Championship gold medal in San Antonio, Texas.

2007 - Women's Golf - Jennie Lee finished tied for low amateur at the U.S. Women's Open at the Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Course in Southern Pines, N.C. She collected a 72-hole ledger of 294, which tied for 39th overall.

2006 - Women's Golf - Amanda Blumenherst tied for low amateur at the U.S. Women's Open as she placed tied for 10th at the Newport Country Club in Newport, R.I.

2019 - Men's Basketball - Consensus Men's Basketball National Player of the Year Zion Williamson won the 2018-19 Male Athlete of the Year in the ACC, becoming the 16th Blue Devil to win the award as the conference's premier male athlete.
2016 – Track & Field – Graduate student Curtis Beach rounded out the decathlon at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore., by taking first place in the 1500m to finish ninth overall. Beach entered the final competition in 13th place after the previous nine events, and with a top time in the 1500m of 4:12.13, he increased his point total to 7,728, moving him up to ninth in the final standings.

2004 - Men's Basketball - Mike Krzyzewski announced that he was remaining at Duke to coach the men's basketball program, turning down an offer by the Los Angeles Lakers to coach their storied NBA franchise. "Duke has always taken up my whole heart, and your heart has to be in whatever you lead," said Coach K at a press conference on that day.
