National Passion
A number of Blue Devils were in action with USA Field Hockey teams over the summer, highlighted by senior midfielder Margaux Paolino, who claimed Pan American Games bronze with the U.S. women's national team in Lima, Peru. The squad defeated Chile, 5-1, in the bronze medal game. Paolino was also in action with Team USA this summer in International Hockey Federation (FIH) Pro League play.
In addition to a number of spring USA Field Hockey international tours that featured returning and incoming Blue Devils, Duke also had nine student-athletes selected for June's Young Women's National Championship in Lancaster, Pa. Four Blue Devils advanced with their squads to the tournament's gold medal match. Duke assistant coach Ralph Boersma serves as an assistant coach with the U.S. U-19 team and last month completed an FIH Level 3 coaching course at the site of the Pan American Games in Lima.
