DURHAM, N.C. – After a successful weekend at the Hokie Invitational, the Duke track & field team will compete at the Armory Collegiate in New York, N.Y. Competition kicks off Thursday and will run until Saturday.
The meet opens with Kate Kutzer, Jaida Lemmons and Erin Marsh representing Duke in the pentathlon, marking the first multi-event opportunity of the year for the Blue Devils.
On Friday, the men's distance medley relay made up of Charles Cooper, Carter Dillon, Miles Mingo and Matt Wisner will challenge a strong field.
Cooper, Dillon and Wisner from the DMR will be joined by Alex Miley in the 4xmile relay. The Duke men were invited to compete on the national stage as two records are being challenged on Saturday. Two professional teams are taking aim at the world record of 16:14 while Villanova and Duke are set to challenge the collegiate record of 16:19. NBCSN will broadcast a portion of Saturday's meet, including the men's 4xmile which will be at 1:50 p.m.
Senior India Lowe is slated to compete in the 60m, 200m and 4x400m relay this weekend as she is coming off an impressive start to the 2019 campaign. At the Carolina Cup, Lowe posted the second-fastest time in school history in the 60m (7.53) and captured the school record in the 300m in a first-place time of 38.21 at the Hokie Invitational.
Mingo also saw success in the 300m last weekend as he clocked in at 34.40 to take fourth place and the second-best time in school history. Mingo was just .11 seconds from a school-record performance. Mingo is slated to compete in the 400m and distance medley relay this weekend.
Lowe and Mingo weren't the only Blue Devils to etch their names among Duke greats as Brittany Aveni clocked in the second-best time in the 600m in 1:29.90. Aveni will compete in the college 800m and the 4x400m relay.
Junior Cassie Martin looks to continue her success in the high jump as she was unbeaten in the first two meets of the year. The women's vault squad is another strong event as Rivka Arbiv, Laura Marty, Nati Sheppard and Chesney Ward are set to compete for Duke.
