Judy Culhane arrives at Duke for her first season as an assistant volleyball coach after playing professional volleyball in Europe this past season. A 2000 graduate from Colgate University, she was recognized for her contributions to Patriot League volleyball with her selection to the ten-member Patriot League All-Decade Volleyball Team.
As senior captain, Culhane was honored as the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, Patriot League Tournament MVP and Patriot League Volleyball Scholar Athlete. She was a three-time All-Patriot League First Team selection and was Colgate Volleyball’s Offensive MVP three times. In her career, Culhane contributed to Colgate’s winning two Patriot League championships and making two NCAA appearances. Culhane holds several Colgate volleyball records, ranking first in solo blocks in a single season (51), second in career solo blocks (142), and second in career kills (1,461).
Off the court, Culhane majored in political science and was a member of Colgate’s Student Athletic Advisory Committee and the Colgate Model Congress. She received the ECAC Merit Award in recognition of her academic and athletic excellence.
