After spending the 2002 season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Blue Devils, Jeni Gentry was promoted to assistant coach in January 2003. The 2004 season marks her third year with the Blue Devils and second as assistant coach.

Gentry actively assists in all aspects of the Duke volleyball program including recruiting and training. She is also instrumental in the organization and management of the Duke Volleyball Camp.

Prior to coming to Duke, Gentry served as head coach at Peace College in 2001.

She served as a volunteer assistant coach at East Carolina in 2000-01 and earned a master's degree in Exercise and Sport Science from ECU in 2000.

Gentry was a four-year letterwinner at Marquette University, where she graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology in 1999. As a sophomore in 1996, Gentry set a Conference USA record for most aces in a season and in a match.

Gentry and her husband, Ken, were married in January 2001. They live in Durham.
