Jessica Bracamonte was officially named an assistant with the Duke softball program on July 22, 2019. Bracamonte joined the Blue Devils after spending the previous six seasons as an assistant at Central Michigan. Since joining the coaching staff, Duke has put together a 67-16 record.

Bracamonte helped lead the Blue Devils to a 44-12 campaign during the 2021 campaign as Duke claimed its first ACC Championship title and berth into the NCAA Tournament. In their first NCAA appearance, the Blue Devils earned a national seed (No. 13). She was a part of the Duke coaching staff that was named the Coaching Staff of the Year for the Southeast region.

Prior to the abrupt end of the 2020 season, the Blue Devils had compiled a 23-4 record and defeated their first ranked opponent in program history with a 1-0 shutout at Texas. Duke also earned its first top-25 ranking in program history in the final poll of the shortened season.

Bracamonte coaches the Duke outfield, slappers and assists with overall offensive strategies.

Primarily the hitting and outfield coach for the Chippewas, Bracamonte has been crucial to CMU’s success over the last six seasons. In her time, she has helped guide Central Michigan to the Mid-American Conference Tournament every year, as well as capturing the MAC Regular Season Championship in 2017.

Individually, Bracamonte has seen unprecedented success developing her players at CMU. She produced 12 All-MAC First Team selections, seven second team honorees and placed four players on the All-Freshman squad. Highlighting her conference honors were the MAC Player of the Year (Katelyn Rentschler) and Freshman of the Year (Sara Hansen) in 2015.

In five of Bracamonte’s seasons on staff, the Chippewas placed at least one outfielder on the all-conference or NFCA All-Region team. Bracamonte’s leadership guided back-to-back outfielders in 2017 and 2018 to all-region accolades. Her guidance has also developed six all-time record holders at CMU with those players making a total of 54 appearances in the Chippewas’ record book.

Bracamonte’s leadership can also be seen in the Chippewas’ success in the classroom. In her six seasons, she has provided academic oversight to 48 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes, 24 All-MAC Academic Team members and one MAC Nan Harvey Award winner. As a program, the Chippewas have maintained a 3.24 team GPA since Bracamonte’s arrival in 2013.

As the program’s community service liason, Bracamonte helped the program earn the 2019 Community Leadership Award behind 1,249.75 hours of community service work. Twice since Bracamonte joined the staff, the CMU softball program has earned the Dick Enberg Team Leadership Award, which goes to the Chippewa team that best meets five criteria: grade-point average, academic progress rate, community service, athletic performance, and commitment to excellence.

Prior to arriving at Central Michigan, Bracamonte spent a season as an assistant at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, Calif. There she helped the team improve in winning percentage and several statistical categories, including batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, runs batted in and runs scored, as well as fielding percentage. She also more than doubled the number of home runs from the prior season and coached six players to hit above .300, including one player above .400.

Bracamonte was a standout outfielder and four-year starter at Michigan State from 2008-11. As a senior, she led the Big Ten with four triples while hitting .328, slugging .458, and driving in a team-high 28 runs. She played professionally with the Chicago Bandits of National Pro Fastpitch.

A native of Hacienda Heights, Calif., Bracamonte earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State in 2012 and began her coaching career as a student assistant at MSU. She completed her master's degree at CMU in 2016.
