Marcel Frenkel joined the Duke fencing staff in August, 2012, as a volunteer assistant coach.
Frenkel was a four-year leatterwinner at national fencing powerhouse Notre Dame, helping the Fighting Irish capture the 2011 NCAA Championship. During Notre Dame's 2011 championship season, Frenkel posted an 11-2 record for the saber squad.
A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Frenkel compiled a 103-19 (.844) record during his four-year tenure with the Irish, including a career-best 44-4 mark as a senior in 2012. He was the recipient of the Mulligan Men's Sabre Leadership Award that season.
