DURHAM, N.C. – Eight Blue Devils received invitations to the 2026 NCAA Fencing Championships, as announced by the NCAA Men's and Women's Fencing Committee Tuesday afternoon. The national meet – hosted by Notre Dame – will take place Mar. 19-22 at the Joyce Center in South Bend, Indiana.
Duke will be represented by sophomore
Lev Ermakov (sabre), junior
Charlotte Koenig (foil), sophomore
Owen Li (foil), graduate student
Yeva Mazur (epee), junior
Natalie Olsen (sabre), junior
Sophia Shen (foil), freshman
Zachary Shoman (sabre) and freshman
Abdelrahman Tolba (foil).
A 2024 All-America honoree, Koenig is back for her third appearance after placing 17th in 2025 and ninth in 2024. Olsen was an NCAA qualifier in 2024, while Mazur makes her fourth NCAA Championship appearance and first as a Blue Devil.
Ermakov, Li, Shen, Showman and Tolba each earn their first trip to the NCAA Championships following strong showings at regionals, headlined by Shen and Showman's second-place finishes.
The championship will include individual events in each of the six weapons (men's epee, men's foil, men's saber, women's epee, women's foil and women's saber). Fencers will compete in a round-robin format of five-touch bouts. After the round-robin, the top-four finishers in each weapon will fence in semifinal 15-touch bouts, with the winners fencing to determine first and second places, and the non-advancing fencers being awarded a tie for third place.
An institution's place in the championships will be based on points earned by each individual. A team will be awarded one point for each victory by its student-athletes for the duration of the championship.
