Sophomore
The two-time All-East performer had his best season as a Blue Devil during the 2003 outdoor campaign. Cronin lowered his 1,500m personal best to 3:50.03 at the ACC Outdoor Championships, reaching the finals and narrowly missing the NCAA Regional mark by .03 seconds. At the Duke Invitational on April 4, Cronin ran lead-off on the Duke school record 4x800m relay which clocked 7:26.43. Indoors, Cronin ran the lead-off 1,200m leg in both the trials and finals for the IC4A DMR team that earned All-East honors.
Freshman
After an indoor season which saw Ian earn All-East on the 4x800m relay (7:33.57), a time which ranks No. 3 all time at Duke, Cronin suffered a hamstring injury during the outdoor campaign which hindered further development.
Prep
As a prep, Cronin won the Illinois state 1,600m in 4:10.53
