Scott Tanis joined the Duke cross country and track & field staff as a volunteer assistant coach in August, 2013.
After graduating from Lewis University in 2013, Tanis begins his collegiate coaching career with Duke’s cross country and track & field programs. The Yorkville, Ill., native provides a great deal of experience competing at the Division II collegiate level. As a member of the Flyers, Tanis excelled in the middle distance events, qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship meet in the 1,500-meter run and earning USTFCCCA All-Region honors in the process.
Tanis owns a number of coaching certifications, including a USATF Level I coaching certification and an American Sports Education Program coaching certification. An Academic All-America second team nominee, Tanis also minored in coaching.
