At Duke (2021-Present): Tyler Rost joined the Duke coaching staff as the Director of Player Development in February of 2021.
In his role, Rost oversees all technology, analytics and data collection and implementation for individual player development. In addition, he coordinates efforts with sports performance coaches, team nutritionists and the athletic training staff.
In Rost's first season at Duke he helped the Blue Devils make program history, capturing the program's first ACC Baseball Tournament Championship title. In addition, Rost assisted the Duke hitters to tally 78 home runs, ranking fourth in program history and the most since 1998. Rost also saw two position players, Joey Loperfido and RJ Schreck, be All-ACC selections, and Peter Matt become the first Blue Devil in program history to hit 15 home runs and steal 15 bases.Â

At North Carolina Central (2020-21): Prior to joining the Blue Devils, Rost returned to North Carolina Central as an assistant coach for the 2020 season after previously being on the Eagles staff in 2017. He primarily worked with the hitters, outfielders and catchers in 2020 while also serving as the recruiting coordinator.

While at NC Central, Rost coached and mentored outfielder Carter Williams who signed as a free agent with the San Francisco Giants. Rost also oversaw the development of Luis DeLeon, the 2020 MEAC Most Impressive Hitter and a 2021 Preseason All-American.
At Winston Salem State (2018-20): In 2018 and 2019, Rost worked as an assistant for the Winston Salem State University baseball team. The Rams were a combined 65-36 over the two seasons and were crowned HBCU National Champions and D2 Independent Tournament Champions in 2019. His hitters slugged 53 HRs in 2018 and stole over 100 bases in each season. His outfield group produced MLB draft picks Randy Norris (2018, 19th round) and E.P. Reese (2019, 25th round). Rost coached third base, was heavily involved in recruiting, and assisted with the team’s strength and conditioning.
Prior to Winston Salem State: Rost spent the 2017 season as the volunteer assistant coach at NCCU. He worked with hitters and served as the team’s first baseball coach, as well as handling the outfielders. His squad of outfielders produced two Freshman All-Americans and three ALL-MEAC selections.
During the 2016 season Rost served as an assistant for Wake Tech Community College where he worked primarily with hitters and outfielders. Before joining Wake Tech, Rost spent two summers as the head coach of the Genesee Rapids in the New York Collegiate Baseball League.
From 2014-2015 Rost worked as the graduate assistant baseball coach at Greenville University in Illinois. He served as the team’s hitting coach and also worked with the catchers. With Rost’s assistance, Greenville captured the 2015 SLIAC Championship and advanced to the school’s first-ever NCAA national tournament. Rost recruited and coached SLIAC Player of the Year, catcher Travis Ralls.
Professional Career: Rost played two seasons of professional baseball as an outfielder for the Alpine Cowboys of the Pecos League. The Cowboys were league champions in 2012 and Rost finished the 2013 season with a .337 batting average and .500 on base percentage. During the offseason, He served as an assistant coach for the Cedarville University baseball team for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. He worked primarily with hitters and outfielders, and also coached third base and assisted with the team’s strength and conditioning.
Collegiate Career (20018-11): Rost was a four-year starter at Cedarville University from 2008 through 2011. He saw most of his action in the outfield, but also spent time on the mound for the Yellow Jackets. Rost was an NCCAA All-American and an American Mideast Conference First Team selection. Upon graduation he held Cedarville’s all-time records for games played (213), at bats (626), hits (209), runs scored (138), and walks (125), as well as the single-season record for walks (48).

A native of Rootstown, Ohio, Rost holds a bachelor of arts in sports management from Cedarville University and a masters in coaching from Greenville University.Â

Personal: Rost currently resides in Burlington, North Carolina with his wife Kendra. The couple has one son, Jordan.
