Upcoming Event: Women's Tennis versus North Carolina on April 1, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.

DURHAM, N.C. -- Members of the Duke women’s tennis team, in conjunction with Duke’s “Just Beat It” event held in the Wilson Center, joined the efforts of the Project Life Movement earlier this week. Project Life is an initiative that takes place on college campuses across America and encourages students to donate and register a cheek swab in the hopes of finding potential bone marrow donors. Using information from the swab, future donors can be matched with an individual in need of a transplant.
“I think as student-athletes, we have a bit of a unique platform to make a difference,” senior Chalena Scholl said. “That’s really important to remember in whatever we are doing, whether it’s going to an elementary school or helping people sign up to be on a list, it’s important to try to use that to better something.”
In addition to Scholl, a number of her teammates, including senior Alyssa Smith, redshirt sophomore Christina Makarova and sophomores Ellyse Hamlin and Kaitlyn McCarthy, collected and cataloged cheek swabs during their time volunteering for the Project Life Movement. The Blue Devils also assisted participating students in potentially registering for future bone marrow donations.
