DURHAM, N.C. – The No. 1 Wake Forest men's tennis team picked up a 4-0 victory at No. 59 Duke on Sunday afternoon inside Ambler Tennis Stadium. The Blue Devils and Demon Deacons fought through a tight doubles point before Wake Forest captured three singles victories in straight sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED

On court three, Wake's duo of Aryan Shah and Luca Pow earned the first doubles decision with a 6-1 victory against Dylan Long and Alexander Visser.
The Demon Deacons (25-2, 10-0 ACC) picked up the doubles point on court two as Mees Rottgering and Kacper Szymkowiak fought back for a 7-5 win against Cooper Williams and Teddy Truwit. Duke's pair broke in the first game and held to lead 2-0. Wake's duo kept within range but could not force a tie until breaking at 5-4 to even the set at 5-5. The Demon Deacons then held and broke to earn the 7-5 set.
On court four, Wake Forest's Joaquin Guilleme quickly made it 2-0 as he topped Long, 6-0, 6-0.
The Demon Deacons made it a 3-0 lead on court five as No. 65 Shah downed Saahith Jayaraman, 6-1, 6-2.
The final point came on court three, as No. 20 Pow topped Gerard Planelles Ripoll, 6-3, 6-2. Pow took a 3-0 lead in the opening set. Planelles Ripoll got within two at 3-1, 4-2 and 5-3 before Pow closed it out. Pow took 3-0 and 5-1 leads in the second set before capturing the victory.

UP NEXT

Duke (9-11, 4-6 ACC) heads to Florida for two matches, facing Florida State at 5:30 p.m. Friday and Miami at 3 p.m. next Sunday.
