ACC Championship Scenarios
- A Duke win over Virginia Sunday will guarantee the Blue Devils one of the four spots in the ACC Championship. The Blue Devils’ seed will depend upon the outcome of the other two remaining contests between North Carolina and Syracuse and North Carolina and Notre Dame.
- A Duke loss to Virginia and a Syracuse win over North Carolina would put the Blue Devils in the ACC-Brown Classic game April 30.
- Should Duke lose to the Cavaliers and North Carolina beat the Orange, the tiebreaker would come down to goals allowed among the tied teams – Duke (15), Virginia (14) and Syracuse (29) – meaning Duke can’t give up more than 14 goals.
A Win Over Virginia Would
- Be the program’s 528th victory
- Make Duke 177-177 all-time in the month of April
- Be Duke’s third ranked win of the year and second ACC victory
- Mark the Blue Devils’ 15th win over the Cavaliers since 2007 and eighth straight
Taking Care Of The Ball
- Sunday’s game features two teams at the opposite ends of the turnover spectrum.
- Virginia leads the ACC and is 10th nationally with just 11.83 turnovers per game. Duke is on the opposite end at fifth in the ACC and 56th nationally with 15.77 turnovers per game.
- Duke is averaging 16 turnovers per game in its six losses. Virginia has had 15-plus turnovers in four games this year, compared to six for the Blue Devils.
Blue Devils Against Virginia
This current crop of Blue Devil seniors is 4-0 against Virginia.
Myles Jones leads all scorers with 11 points in his two games. Only four current Blue Devils have scored against the Cavaliers.
Class Nears Single Season Record
- With 36 goals this season, Class is on pace to eclipse the single-season goals record by a Duke midfielder. He needs just five to pass
Myles Jones and Robert Rotanz’s 40 tallies.
- Averaging almost three goals per game, he is likely to reach that mark by the end of the regular season.
- His 36 are two fewer than he had in 20 games his sophomore season and two more than he had in 18 outings last season.
