DURHAM, N.C. – For the seventh consecutive season, Duke placed two or more members on the All-ACC Academic Men’s Basketball Team as announced by ACC commissioner John Swofford Tuesday. Sophomore Amile Jefferson earned academic honors for the second time, while Rodney Hood and Jabari Parker were first time honorees for the Blue Devils.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. Duke has now had 81 All-ACC Academic Team selections since the inaugural team in 1962-63.
Virginia Tech’s Jarell Eddie was named to the team for the third time in his career, while North Carolina’s Marcus Paige, Boston College’s Joe Rahon and Georgia Tech’s Marcus Georges-Hunt joined Jefferson as two-time selections. Pittsburgh had a league-high four All-ACC Academic Team pick in Jamel Artis, Josh Newkirk, Cameron Wright and Michael Young. Virginia Tech also had four selections as Eddie was joined by Will Johnston, Trevor Thompson and Joey van Zegeren.
Other academic team honorees include Georgia Tech’s Trae Golden, Miami’s Donnavan Kirk and Wake Forest’s Coron Williams.
