John Danowski Finishes 2011 with 299 Career Wins

Duke head coach John Danowski will be going for his 300th career victory at the start of the 2012 season ... The fifth-year leader is 299-158 for his career ... He will be just the fifth Division I head coach to reach the 300-win mark in his career and just the third active coach to have 300 victories ... He currently ranks tied for third among active coaches in career victories and is ninth in career win percentage (.656).

Danowski Headlined Duke's All-ACC Selections

Duke head coach John Danowski was named the 2011 ACC Coach of the Year after guiding the Blue Devils to the ACC title and a 3-0 record in league play ... This is the second time Danowski has been honored as the top coach in the ACC by his peers ... Junior CJ Costabile and freshman Jordan Wolf were named to the All-ACC squad ... The honor is the first for both Blue Devils and Wolf was one of three freshmen chosen.

Recapping Duke's 2011

Duke finished the 2011 season with a 14-6 overall record and ranked third in the final Inside Lacrosse Media Poll ... The Blue Devils collected six All-America awards with redshirt junior Justin Turri leading the way on the second team ... Zach Howell, CJ Costabile and Tom Montelli picked up third team recognition and Robert Rotanz and Jordan Wolf were honorable mention picks ... Howell led all Blue Devils with 59 points on 43 goals and 16 assists ... He finished his career with 134 goals ... Rookies Wolf and Christian Walsh were next in the scoring column with 51 and 34 points, respectively ... Wolf led all players with 20 assists, while Walsh had 21 goals and 13 assists in his first season ... David Lawson had a strong sophomore season with 32 points and scored at least one point in the final 16 games of the year ... Costabile and rookie Brendan Fowler shared faceoff duties ... Costabile won 97-of-186 restarts (.522), while Fowler was 86-of-155 (.555) at the X ... Greg DeLuca and freshman Charlie Payton also took draws for the Blue Devils ... Senior Tom Montelli led the charge on defense with 55 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers ... Senior Terrence Molinari anchored the defensive midfield with 37 ground balls ...
