WHAT TO KNOW:
- The 42 NCAA East Regional qualifiers for Duke are the most under A. Morris Williams, Jr. Track & Field Director Shawn Wilbourn, unseating the previous high of 39 in 2024. Duke has produced at least 30 regional qualifiers in each of Wilbourn's six seasons at the helm, with this year marking the fourth straight campaign with 35 or more qualifiers – 2021 (33), 2022 (30), 2023 (38), 2024 (39), 2025 (36) and 2026 (42).
- Graduate students Michael Bennett and Max Forte have already punched their respective tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the decathlon after finishing among the top-24 performers nationally in the multi-event.
- Five Duke student-athletes enter the meet boasting top-10 marks in the NCAA East Regional: Braelyn Baker (4th – 400m), Andres Langston (3rd – 400mH), Lauren Tolbert (3rd – 800m), Christian Toro (4th – hammer throw) and Gemma Tutton (3rd – pole vault). The women's 4x400 and 4x100 also check in at No. 8 in the East region.
- Duke's women currently sit just outside the top 25 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Week 9Â poll, checking in 27th. The Blue Devils debuted at No. 3 in the first poll of the outdoor season (Mar. 31), marking the highest in-season ranking in program lore.
- In the EventSquad rankings, the Blue Devil women are currently second in the 3000-meter steeplechase, third in the 800 meters and 10th in the 10,000 meters and 200 meters. On the men's side, Duke is fourth in the decathlon.
