DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke Baseball program has announced it has begun construction on the David Koch Jr. Player Performance Center with an anticipated completion date of mid to late November 2026.
"The David Koch Jr. Player Performance Center demonstrates our continued commitment to providing the best experience for our student-athletes," said head coach
Corey Muscara. "With multiple developmental technologies and space for specialized sports performance training, our players and coaches will be able to focus on our program's goal of taking steps to improve, in some way, each and every day."
The 8,000 square foot facility, designed by EwingCole and built by LeChase Construction Services, will feature a pitching lab, hitting lab, and training lab, with direct access to Jack Coombs Field. Duke student-athletes will be able to utilize several developmental technologies, including Trajekt, iPitch, NewtForce, Trackman and Kinatrax.

"We're extremely excited for construction to begin on the David Koch Jr. Player Performance Center," added Duke Vice President and King-Compton Families Director of Athletics
Nina King. "It is another indication of our investment towards the growth of the Duke Baseball program and we're very grateful to the David Koch Jr. Foundation, and all donors, that made this next step possible."
The hitting lab will feature multiple advanced tools, headlined by Trajekt and iPitch. Trajekt provides hitters with the ability to replicate any pitch and pitcher, including precise gyro spin and exact release points, for use in preparation for upcoming pitcher matchups. iPitch allows for fast pitch changes, random sequences, programmed sequences and custom pitches with controlled spin rate.

Duke's pitching lab will utilize NewtForce and Trackman to analyze data and video for additional coaching and pitching development. The NewtForce Integrated Pitching Lab allows viewers to see a pitcher's ground force production, biomechanical data, Trackman data, Edgertronic video, and related metrics in real time. This produces objective feedback of drills and pitches, all combined into a single dashboard. Trackman produces real-time feedback on pitch characteristics and works hand-in-hand with other player development tools.
Additional space inside the David Koch Jr. Player Performance Center will be dedicated to the Blue Devils' training lab. The training lab will provide Duke's sports performance team with an area for pre-practice and pre-game activations, recovery and mobility sessions, biomechanics assessments and much more. The location, directly next to Jack Coombs Field, will allow for seamless integration of sports performance sessions with practice and games.

In tandem with the construction of the David Koch Jr. Player Performance Center, Duke will install Kinatrax inside Jack Coombs Field, allowing the Blue Devils to collect in-game biomechanical performance data.
With the anticipated completion of Phase Two in mid to late November, Duke will reach another major milestone in the ongoing, multi-phase renovation of Jack Coombs Field. These upgrades are part of the broader master plan for the facility, and upcoming phases include an expansion of the David Koch Jr. Player Performance Center that will introduce a new clubhouse with locker rooms, coaches' offices, a team lounge, and other enhanced student-athlete spaces including content creation and analytics workspaces.
Future planning and subsequent phases could also address meaningful fan-focused improvements, highlighted by an expanded grandstand featuring upgraded concession areas, additional restrooms, and new hospitality spaces designed to elevate the game-day experience.
Fundraising to advance these forthcoming phases is actively underway. Fans and supporters interested in contributing are encouraged to contact the
