STANFORD, Calif. — Duke opened ACC wrestling action Friday evening with a bout at Stanford and came away with a 35-10 loss at Maples Pavilion. The Blue Devils received wins from
Dylan Ross (149 pounds),
Aidan Wallace (174 pounds) and
Connor Barket (285 pounds) on the evening.Â

With the loss, the Blue Devils moved to 6-7 overall and 0-1 in ACC play, while Stanford improved to 3-4, 1-0.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Against 17th-ranked Jack Consiglio of Stanford, Duke junior Raymond Adams fought well with Consiglio at 141 pounds as the two finished the first period scoreless.Consiglio registered the first point of the match with 38 seconds remaining in the second period as Adams was awarded his second stalling warning of the match.Consiglio added a second point to start the third period with an escape and then registered a takedown with two seconds remaining in the match to earn a 5-0 decision.
- Dylan Ross collected Duke's first takedown of the contest as he went ahead, 3-0, early against Lain Yapoujian at 149 pounds. Yapoujian registered an escape late in the first to finish the period with Ross leading, 3-1. Ross, who hails from Edgewater, New Jersey, collected an escape to open the second and went ahead, 4-1. A takedown by Ross late in the second gave the redshirt freshman a 7-1 advantage heading into the final period. He added a third and fourth takedown and finished with a 14-1 major decision to put Duke on the board with four points.Â
- Late in the first period, Duke's 20th-ranked Aidan Wallace took a shot and registered a takedown to hold a 3-0 lead.He notched an escape to open the second and led 4-0 against Collin Guffey at 174 pounds.A product of Mahwah, New Jersey, Wallace held a 4-0 lead into the third period and only allowed a late escape by Guffey, before totaling a 5-1 decision at 174 pounds.
- In the final bout of the evening, Duke's 25th-ranked Connor Barket faced Luke Duthie at heavyweight.Duthie took the early lead, 3-0, with a takedown and Barket added an escape in the first period.Barket, a native of West Lafayette, Indiana, cut the lead to 3-2 with an escape at the beginning of the second.With 1:12 remaining in the third period, Barket collected his first takedown to register his first lead, 5-3, and held on for the decision.

- Redshirt sophomore Spencer von Savoye competed in his first career ACC bout.
- In his first ACC match, Dylan Ross collected the ACC victory with a 14-1 major decision.He moved to 11-7 on the season and 4-5 in dual match action.
- Duke's redshirt sophomore Logan Fite saw action in just his third match of the season and first ACC contest of his career.It came against ninth-ranked Daniel Cardenas at 157 pounds.
- Aidan Wallace collected his second career ACC dual match win, while improving to 21-2 overall on the year. In his career, Wallace has registered a 44-15 overall ledger.   Â
- Connor Barket improved to 16-3 on the season and 56-32 in his career. Barket totaled his seventh career ACC win and is now 13-1 in dual matches this year. He has won four dual matches in a row.Â

- Duke will close its trip to the West Coast by facing Cal Poly Saturday, Jan. 10 at 10 p.m.The match will be aired live on X.
