DURHAM, N.C. — Duke women's soccer alumnae Toni Payne and Dieynaba Ndaw are set to open action in the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) Women's Africa Cup of Nations Sunday as they compete for Nigeria and Senegal, respectively. The competition will run from July 5-26 in Morocco.
The winning team will receive $1,000,000, while the runner-up earns $500,000, third place receives $350,000 and fourth place earns $300,000.
Nigeria will open play July 6 against Tunisia and then faces Botswana on July 10 and Algeria on July 13. Senegal's schedule features Democratic Republic of Congo on July 6, Zambia on July 9 and Morocco on July 12. Following group stage, the playoffs will begin on July 18.
Payne is a 2017 Duke graduate and helped lead the Blue Devils to the 2015 NCAA College Cup, while Ndaw is a 2024 Blue Devil graduate.
