DURHAM, N.C.— Duke women's soccer head coach
Kieran Hall has brought in five very talented newcomers for the 2026 season. All five joined the Blue Devils in January and have been practicing with the team this spring. GoDuke.com sat down with each of the newcomers to get to know them ahead of the season.
Our fifth spotlight is Sofia Nuñez, who is a 5-6 freshman from Bonita, California. A representative of Mexico on multiple youth national team levels, Nuñez competed at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup and the 2025 U-17 Torneo 4 Naciones.
Ranked No. 122 nationally in the class of 2026, Nuñez tallied 28 goals, 20 assists and 76 points over her three seasons of high school soccer at Bonita Vista. She was a two-time CIF San Diego Section First Team and Metro Mesa All-League First Team selection. Nuñez competed on the San Diego Surf Soccer Club.
