DURHAM, N.C. – The No. 15 Duke women's lacrosse team will match up against host and fifth-seeded Virginia in the second round of the NCAA Championship Sunday at 1 p.m., inside Klöckner Stadium in Charlottesville, Va. The game will be aired on ESPN+.

NCAA Championship History

Duke is making its 23rd NCAA Championship appearance in program history. Under head coach Kerstin Kimel, the Blue Devils own a 28-22 record in tournament play, including 16 quarterfinal and seven semifinal appearances. Duke last reached the semifinals in 2015 and boasts a 4-2 record in second-round contests.
The Blue Devils are 1-0 when playing NCAA Tournament games in the state of Virginia and are seeking their 17th quarterfinal berth in program history. Duke holds a 7-9 record in quarterfinal matches.

Duke Versus Virginia

The Blue Devils will face the Cavaliers for the 47th time in program history, with Virginia owning the 28-18 advantage.
Duke and UVA have squared off in NCAA postseason play five times before. Virginia leads the series history, 3-2, when facing the Blue Devils in the NCAA Championship.
Duke and Virginia met earlier this season in a conference game, when the Cavaliers defeated Duke, 16-11.

Scouting the Cavaliers

Virginia boasts a 12-6 overall record with a 5-4 mark in conference games.
Jenna Dinardo is the Cavaliers' leading goal scorer with her 50 markers on the year.
Madison Alaimo is the Cavaliers' best distributor, as she has dished out 58 dimes.
On the defensive end, Olivia Bruno has forced 17 turnovers and Kate Galica follows with 16.
In the cage, Mel Josephson has accumulated 117 saves this season for a .411 save percentage.
