DALLAS, Texas – Denver senior Noah Manning scored six goals and added two assists as the Pioneers came away with a 13-6 victory over No. 7 Duke in non-conference men's lacrosse action Saturday night at Highlander Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
The Blue Devils went without a goal for 42:03 as Denver (5-4) used a 9-0 run over a span of three quarters to upend Duke (8-2). The Pioneers led 4-3 at the end of the first quarter and stifled the Blue Devils for the next 42 minutes as Manning put together a career performance.
Luke Engelke was excellent at the faceoff dot for Duke, winning 16-of-21 draws and picking up nine ground balls.
How it Happened
- Duke and Denver traded goals in the early going before the Pioneers went on a 3-0 spurt to take a 4-2 lead with 2:19 remaining. Eric Malever answered for the Blue Devils with three seconds left to bring Duke to within one, 4-3, at the first break. Malever finished the first quarter with a pair of goals while Benn Johnston had the opening marker.
- Manning notched the lone goal of the second quarter as Duke was unable to connect on any of its 14 shots in the period. Denver goalie, Malcolm Kleban, made four of his 11 saves in eh second stanza.
- Duke's offensive struggles continued into the third quarter as Denver's defense held the Blue Devils to only seven shots. The Pioneers remained steady on the offensive end, scoring four goals over a span of 10:48 to build a 9-3 lead after 45 minutes of action.
- Denver tacked on four more goals to make it a 9-0 run before Duke got on the board with 3:00 remaining in the game. Jack Pappendick ended the Blue Devils' scoreless streak at 42:03. Liam McLane and Petey Malitas added goals for Duke to finish the night.
- In goal, Patrick Jameison had seven saves in 47 minutes of action. Buck Cunningham and Evan Barr shared the final 12:32.
- Duke held a 39-32 advantage in shots and won the ground ball battle 26-22. The Blue Devils faced their struggles in the clearing game, going 9-of-15. Denver went 2-for-3 on extra man.

- Duke moves to 12-7 all-time against Denver, dropping its first game to the Pioneers since 2017.
- Luke Engelke won a career-high 16 faceoffs on a career-best 21 faceoff attempts. His nine ground balls are one shy of his career high.
- Andrew McAdorey extended his point streak to 10 games with one assist.
