HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Duke women's golf program will return to the links this week as the 19th-ranked Blue Devils travel to Hilton Head Island, S.C., to compete in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at the 6,413-yard, par-71 Long Cove Club from March 3-5.
Also seeing action this week will be Vanderbilt, Baylor, Wake Forest, Texas, Northwestern, Kentucky Arizona State, UCLA, Ohio State, South Carolina, LSU, Arkansas, Georgia, Auburn, Mississippi State and Alabama. Of the 16 teams competing, 14 are ranked in the top 40 nationally, including six top 10 teams.
Duke will field a lineup that includes junior
Andie Smith, freshman
Carla De Troia, freshman
Anna Cañado Espinal, senior
Rylie Heflin and sophomore
Katie Li.
As a team, Duke has finished first or second in each of the last three tournaments it has competed in – Ruth's Chirs Tar Heel Invitational (1st), Landfall Tradition (2nd) and PDI Intercollegiate – Hosted by UCF (2nd). The Blue Devils shot a combined 29-under-par at the Landfall Tradition and PDI Intercollegiate.
The Blue Devils will compete in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate for the 11th time in program history. Duke last took home the title in 2014 and 2015 and have posted seven top four finishes in 10 appearances. Two Duke golfers have taken home the individual crown with
Leona Maguire (2015) and
Yu Liu (2014) winning the title.
All teams will play 18 holes each day with Duke opening action on hole No. 10 on Monday at 10:20 a.m., along with Vanderbilt and Kentucky.
For the fourth consecutive year, Golf Channel will be providing live coverage of the event each day from 2:30-5:30 p.m. (ET).
