DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women's golf team received its 33rd consecutive bid to participate in NCAA Regional action Wednesday as the Blue Devils were seeded No. 2 in the Ann Arbor Regional. Duke will travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan, from May 11-13 to play for an invitation to the NCAA Championship. The regional will be contested at the University of Michigan Golf Course.
The 12 teams competing in the regional will be Southern California, Duke, Central Florida, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Northwestern, Kansas, Texas Tech, UNLV, Columbia, Quinnipiac and Oakland.
The regional will be a three-day, 54-hole tournament with 18 holes played each day. Duke opens action Monday, May 11.
The NCAA regionals feature six different sites with 12 teams (72 total) and six individuals (36 total) at each location. The top five teams and top individual (not on an advancing team) from each site will advance to the championships, which will be held for the second time at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., May 22-27.
Over Duke's history of playing in the NCAA Regionals, it will mark the second time the Blue Devils have been sent to the state of Michigan. Duke competed in the East Lansing, Michigan regional in 1994 and registered a second-place finish.
The Blue Devils have collected 10 NCAA Regional Team Championships over the past 29 years – 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2013, 2015 and 2018. The 10 regional titles rank second nationally behind Southern California (15).
Brooks has guided the Blue Devils to an NCAA Division I record 145 career wins and 21 of Duke's 22 ACC titles. In his 42 seasons at Duke, Brooks has led the Blue Devils to seven NCAA Championships (1999, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2014 and 2019) and has taken his squad to the NCAA Regionals every year since 1993.
This year's women's golf championships will be broadcast for the 11th consecutive year by Golf Channel with more than 100 news and tournament hours planned again for the men's and women's golf championships.
