DURHAM, N.C. – Duke volleyball head coach
Jolene Nagel announced the addition of five future Blue Devils who will join the program in the fall. The signees include
Aly Donoghue,
Charlotte Glass,
Zoë Gillen-Malveaux,
Olivia Wayne and
Ashby Zubchevich.
"We could not be more thrilled that the time has finally arrived to officially welcome Aly, Charlotte, Zoë, Olivia, Ashby and their families to our Duke volleyball family," said Nagel. "This will be a special group for us not only for their volleyball abilities, but because of the type of people they've shown to be. We expect them to fit seamlessly into the culture we are working to build while also making important contributions on the court."
ALY DONOGHUE
Toronto, Ontario, Canada | Havergal College | 5-6 Libero and Defensive Specialist | Pakmen Volleyball Club
A 5-6 libero and defensive specialist, Donoghue spent her club career with Pakmen Volleyball Club and attended Havergal College in Toronto.
In 2024, she received the Ontario Volleyball Award of Excellence, which recognizes an athlete who displays dedication to volleyball. Donoghue was a member of the 2024 All-Canadian All-Star team and helped the Pakmen Volleyball Club place fifth in the 2024 Volleyball Canada Nationals.
At Havergal, she helped the program win Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Association Championships in 2022 and 2023. Academically, she was a four-time recipient of the Havergal College Honors of Distinction, a 2023 Social Council member and the 2023 Spirit Representative.
Nagel on Donoghue: "Since the beginning of Aly's recruiting process, her passion for Duke has been not only clear but infectious. Not only will her speed and work ethic make us better, but her vibrant, joyful approach to everything will be felt in the locker room."
CHARLOTTE GLASS
Boca Raton, Fla. | Saint Andrews School | 6-1 Setter | Tribe
The
Prep Dig ranked No. 1 setter in Florida and the No. 5 setter in the nation is now a Blue Devil. The 6-1 setter attended Saint Andrews School, where she holds the career records for blocks, kills and assists.
She has been invited to USA Volleyball National Team developing training since 2021, and won 2024 the U17 Open AAU National Championship, earning MVP honor. The two-time Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) All-America won 17 open championships. She led her club team to third in the 2023 AAU national competitions. She was named to the 2022 Junior Volleyball Association All-National Team and received Florida Athletic Coaches Association Class 3A District 20 Co-Volleyball Player of the Year accolades. She also earned
Sun Sentinel and
Palm Beach Post All-County First Team honors in 2022.
Off the court, she was a member of the Dean's List from 2021 through 2025, a member of the student council and the National Honors Society.
Nagel on Glass: "We have enjoyed every moment of the recruiting process with Charlotte. She has shown to be an incredibly kind and humble young woman, and her love for Duke is apparent. On the court, she is a proven competitor and leader with a unique skill set that will enable her to not only run an offense at a high level, but score points as well."
ZOË GILLEN-MALVEAUX
Dallas, Texas | Greenhill School | 6-3 Middle Blocker | Skyline
An Under Armour All-America and USA Volleyball National Training Team member (2021-24), Gillen-Malveaux was ranked No. 10 in Texas according to
Prep Dig and in the top 150 nationally according to
PrepVolleyball.
At Greenhill School, Gillen-Malveaux was a two-time team MVP, a three-time All-Southern Preparatory Conference selection and recipient of the Hornet Award for leadership and sportsmanship. With Skyline Club, she helped her team to multiple USA National Championship top-five finishes, including third place in her first two years.
Academically, she has received high honor roll her freshman through junior years of high school.
Nagel on Gillen-Malveaux: "Zoë is going to be an incredible addition to all facets of Duke volleyball. Not only have academics remained one of her top priorities, but she has consistently challenged herself to grow on the court and in the weight room. Zoë's experiences playing at the highest levels of youth volleyball will serve her well in her transition. We are excited to continue to watch her grow."
OLIVIA WAYNE
Dallas, Texas | The Hockaday School | 6-3 Attacker | Dallas Skyline Juniors
A 6-3 versatile hitter, Wayne attended The Hockaday School, where she has excelled as a versatile attacker.
A three-time Under Armour All-America invitee, Wayne has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Phenom Watch List and helped lead Hockaday to multiple Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) championships. In 2022, she was a
PrepVolleyball Academic All-America, ranked No. 87 nationally and won gold with the Maccabi USA 16U team.
As a junior, Wayne was an SPC champion, earned a Red Hat Game invite and was ranked No. 79 nationally by
PrepVolleyball. In her senior year, she was named to the All-SPC Team, ranked No. 22 nationally and No. 3 among middle blockers according to
Prep Dig and was included in the IMG Top 150 list.
Off the court, Wayne earned a Spanish Exam Bronze Medal, was a Hockaday Head of School honoree and served as president of both the Jewish Student Union and Girl Talk, an organization supporting middle school girls who didn't have the support at home.
Nagel on Wayne: "Olivia has proven time and again that she is able to succeed at the highest levels in any position. Her versatility as an attacker will enable her to fill several different roles for us right away. We are excited about the energy she will bring to our program."
ASHBY ZUBCHEVICH
La Cañada Flintridge, Calif. | La Cañada High School | 6-0 Outside Hitter | Sports Academy x City Volleyball Club
A 6-0 outside hitter, Zubchevich was the 2024 MVP of the Rio Hondo League and the La Canada varsity squad. She led the state in kills as a junior on the way to setting the La Cañada High School record with more than 1,600 career kills.
In 2022, she was her team's offensive player of the year, an All-Rio Hondo League selection and earned a place on the Girls Junior National Championship All-Tournament team. As a junior, she was ranked within the California Division 1/2 Southern Section's top three in kills, top ten in digs and top 15 in hitting percentage.
In the classroom, Zubchevich is a four-time Dean's List member.
Nagel on Zubchevich: "Ashby is a smooth, high-flying athlete with a big arm. Over the last few years, we have watched her get better and better and are certain she will surprise people with her ability. I have been so impressed with her work ethic on and off the court and know she will impact our gym from day one."
