The Opening Tip
- Duke continues its busy stretch of three games in five days (Nov. 12, 14, & 16) this Friday, Nov. 14 against West Virginia in The Greenbrier Tipoff in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., on ESPNU. The Mountaineers are 3-0 overall and coming off an 89-61 win over Temple.
- Duke is coming off a dominant 83-32 victory over Norfolk State Wednesday. Ten Blue Devils got on the board with Taina Mair leading the way with 18 points. It was the Duke debut for redshirt freshman Arianna Roberson and true freshman Emilee Skinner. Roberson finished with 12 points, six rebounds, two steals and three blocks while Skinner had four points, five assists and three rebounds. Delaney Thomas was terrific with nine points on 3-of-3 shooting, seven rebounds, two assists and zero turnovers. Duke turned away 12 shots - its second game with double-digit blocks.
- Duke is beginning a five-game road stretch that spans four states - West Virginia, Virginia, Florida and Nevada. The Blue Devils don't return to Durham for a home contest until Dec. 4 against LSU.
- Toby Fournier has led the team in scoring in two of the three games and has been in double figures all three. Jordan Wood continues to show her offseason improvement, averaging 10 points, seven rebounds and three blocks per game. Mair has 14 assists to just four turnovers and joins Wood and Fournier with a double-digit scoring average after three games (10.3).
- Defensively, Duke is holding opponents to just 25.5 percent shooting, ranking second in the ACC and third nationally. The Blue Devils have held opponents to single digits in three of the 12 quarters (25 percent) this season.
About West Virginia / Series History
- Duke and West Virginia meet for the third time and the first time since Nov. 27, 1996. The Blue Devils are 2-0 versus the Mountaineers, winning by an average of 17 points.
- West Virginia heads into Friday's matchup with an unblemished 3-0 record, averaging 86.7 points per game. The Mountaineers are coming off an 89-61 victory over Temple. WVU has scored at least 80 points in all three contests and is shooting 47 percent from the field for the year and forcing opponents into an average of 27.3 turnovers per game.
- Sydney Shaw leads a WVU offense that features five players averaging double figures. Shaw is averaging 16.7 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game and is the top shooter at 55 percent from the floor and 58 percent from three. Her 3.67 trifectas per game rank 22nd nationally. Jordan Harrison has a team-high 13 assists while averaging 12.3 points per game.
Ari and Emilee on the Floor
- Redshirt freshman Arianna Roberson and true freshman Emilee Skinner made their Duke debuts against Norfolk State. Roberson returned to the court for her first game action in 440 days after an injury suffered in August, 2004. Skinner missed the first two games of the year.
- Both were outstanding with Roberson recording 12 points, six rebounds, two steals and three blocks in 11 minutes. She also was 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Skinner played 13 minutes, finishing with four points, five assists, one steal and one block.

Duke turns around and travels to Lynchburg, Virginia for a Nov. 16 matchup at Liberty. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m., at Liberty Arena on ESPN+.
