DURHAM, N.C. – Duke swimming and diving returns to the pool, hosting Davidson inside the Taishoff Aquatic Center Friday, Oct. 10. Diving begins at 4 p.m., followed by swimming at 5 p.m.Â
NOTABLES
- In the Blue Devils' season-opening meet, Duke posted wins over Marymount, Boston College and East Carolina, collecting a total of 26 first-place finishes.
- On the women's side, junior Ali Pfaff led the way for the Blue Devils, winning the 100 backstroke (53.18) and 100 freestyle (50.17), while also helping the 200 medley relay (1:40.62) and 400 freestyle relay (3:22.94) to event wins.
- On the men's side, senior Justin Wong paced Duke with four victories, taking the 200 butterfly (1:52.16), 100 butterfly (49.41), 400 freestyle relay (3:02.50) and 200 medley relay (1:31.04).
- Divers Keira Lu and Charles Berman were tabbed ACC Divers of the Week Sept. 30, following their performances against Marymount, Boston College and East Carolina. Lu captured first in the three-meter dive (314.65) and placed second in the one-meter (286.70), while Berman swept the diving events, winning the one-meter (310.20) and three-meter (340.00).
- In the latest College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll, Duke's women's team is ranked No. 19 with 101 points.
SERIES HISTORY VERSUS DAVIDSONÂ
- The men's squad holds a 20-3 advantage over Davidson, including wins in nine of the most recent matchups.
- The two men's teams last met during the 2009 season, when the Blue Devils earned a 151-118 victory at home.
- The women's squad holds a 15-1 advantage over the Wildcats and is currently on a nine-meet winning streak.
- In the 2009 meet, the Blue Devil women totaled 160.5 points while holding Davidson to 120.5.
UP NEXT
- Duke will face in-state rival North Carolina Oct. 17 inside Taishoff Aquatic Center. Diving is set to begin at 4 p.m., followed by swimming at 5 p.m. It will mark the first ranked opponent the Blue Devils will face this season, as the Tar Heel men are ranked No. 19 and the UNC women No. 14 in the October CSCAA poll.
