DURHAM, N.C. — Coming off the highest-ranked win of his short collegiate career, Duke redshirt freshman
Aidan Wallace has been tabbed the ACC Co-Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday.
Wallace shared the award with NC State's Koy Buesgens.
A native of Mahwah, N.J., Wallace went up against 23rd-ranked Mac Church of Virginia Tech on Friday live on ACC Network. After a scoreless first period, Church received two stalling warnings to give Wallace a 1-0 lead. Church was able to even the match, 1-1, with an escape with 29 seconds remaining in regulation. Wallace earned a takedown with 1:18 on the clock in the first overtime to collect the thrilling victory.
Wallace's victory was his first ACC win of his collegiate career.
With the win, Wallace improved to 22-6 on the season and posted his third ranked victory of the year. His 22 wins now rank tied for third on Duke's all-time win charts at 165 pounds (dating back to the 1999 season).
Duke will next travel to Pittsburgh, Pa., to face Pittsburgh on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 12 p.m., live on ACC Network Extra inside Fitzgerald Field House.
