DURHAM, N.C. —The NCAA has announced the first coaches' ranking for the 2025 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship with Duke's
Connor Barket and
Aidan Wallace listed at 285 and 165 pounds, respectively.Â
Â
The rankings list the top 33 wrestlers at each weight with Barket coming in at No. 24 and Wallace at No. 26 nationally.Â
Â
The coaches' rankings are determined by a vote of 16 coaches in each weight class with two head coaches from each of the eight conferences. For ranking purposes, coaches may only consider a wrestler that has been designated as a starter at a respective weight class. Wrestlers must have eight Division I matches in the weight class to be considered with at least one within the last 30 days.
Â
Wallace, a native of Mahwah, N.J., owns a 21-6 ledger on the season with two victories against ranked opponents. He advanced to the semifinals of the Southern Scuffle to open 2025 and has won 14 out of his last 17 matches. Wallace's 21 wins currently ranks as the fifth-most in single-season history at 165 pounds.Â
Â
A product of West Lafayette, Ind., Barket has collected a team-high 22 victories on the year and owns a three-match winning streak heading into the Virginia Tech contest. Barket has registered two ranked wins on the year and is 12-2 on the season in dual matches. In just two seasons at Duke, Barket has already collected 38 victories at heavyweight.Â
Â
The coaches' ranking is one of several criteria that will be evaluated by the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee during the at-large selection and seeding process along with head-to-head competition, quality wins, Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), conference tournament placement, results versus common opponents and win percentage.
Â
The 2025 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship take place March 20-22 at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia as the event returns for the first time since 2011.
