DURHAM, N.C. – Duke baseball graduate
Ben Miller and sophomore
Macon Winslow have been selected as the Blue Devils representatives for the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby X. Hosted at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Saturday, Sept. 7, Miller and Winslow will compete in an exciting new baseball format.
The 2024 MLB Home Run Derby X is a 3-on-3 co-ed competition built around power-hitting and defensive hustle, featuring four teams led by an MLB legend. Manny Ramirez, Andruw Jones, Jonny Gomes, Ian Desmond, Tiare Jennings, Ashton Lansdell, Amanda Lorenz, and Skylar Wallace pair with players from Duke, North Carolina, NC State and UNCW.
HRDX is a derby with defense, with games taking about 30 minutes. Three players are on each team and each player gets one at-bat of two and a half minutes. During an at-bat, the opposing team is in the outfield to catch the ball. Teams earn offensive points for home runs and defensive points for catches.
Gates for the event will open at 5:30 p.m., with the event beginning at 7 p.m.
