Blue Devils Host Rod Myers Invitational at Duke University Golf Club

DURHAM, N.C. – The annual Rod Myers Invitational begins on Sunday, Sept. 22, hosted by Duke men's golf at the Duke University Golf Club. The 14th annual rendition of the event features an 11-team field and a total of 72 players, with 36 holes played on Sunday and the final round played on Monday, Sept. 23.
This year's tournament serves as the Duke Centennial event for the men's golf program, as part of the year-long celebration of the university's founding in 1924.
Alongside Duke, the other 10 teams in the field consist of Charlotte, Cincinnati, Florida Gulf Coast, High Point, Liberty, NC State, Princeton, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington and Virginia Tech.
The Blue Devils start a lineup of Luke Sample, Bryan Kim, Ethan Evans, Daniel Choi and William Love. Duke also has five individuals competing, including three freshmen making their Duke debut. Senior Kelly Chinn and senior John Peters are joined by newcomers John Hiller, Oliver Mukherjee and Sam Mukherjee as the Blue Devils' individuals.
First-round tee times begin on No. 1 at 7:33 a.m., and on No. 10 at 7:30 a.m. The second round is continuous play on Sunday afternoon and the third round begins Monday morning at 8:10 a.m., on the first tee, and at 8:05 a.m., off of the 10th tee. Live scoring for the event is available on Golfstat.
Duke is paired with Charlotte and Cincinnati for Sunday's action, beginning on No. 1 at 8:18 a.m., while the Blue Devils' individuals also start their day on No. 1, starting at 7:33 a.m. Third-round pairings are set according to standings following the conclusion of play on Sunday .
The Duke University Golf Club was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., and is a 7,154-yard, par-72 layout. The event is open to the public, with free parking and admission.
This is the 14th year of the Rod Myers Invitational, which honors the Blue Devils' late head coach, who guided the program for 34 years from 1973 until his passing in 2007 after a battle with an acute form of leukemia. While at the helm of the Duke men's golf program, Myers coached 16 All-Americans, nine Academic All-Americans, 24 All-ACC selections and three ACC individual champions. In 2007, the university named the golf training center after him and an endowed athletic scholarship was created in his honor.
Myers' resume included 30 tournament wins for Duke, the 2005 ACC Championship title and seven NCAA Championships appearances.
