Gracia, Johnson Add Baseball America Freshman All-America Honors

DURHAM – Duke freshmen AJ Gracia and Kyle Johnson were selected to Baseball America's Freshman All-America second team, the organization announced on Monday. Gracia and Johnson both collected their fourth recognitions of the 2024 season.
Gracia, a 6-foot-3 outfielder from Monroe, N.J., started all 60 games this season primarily in right field. The lefty posted a .305 average at the plate, scoring 56 runs, collecting 67 hits, 14 doubles, 14 home runs and 58 RBI. He enjoyed a .559 slugging percentage and a .440 on base percentage, while leading the Blue Devils in walks with 48 in 2024. Gracia also broke both the Duke freshman RBI record, passing big leaguer and former Blue Devil Joey Loperfido (2018), and home run record, passing Andrew Fischer last season.
Johnson, a 6-foot-1 utility player from Leesburg, Va., shined both on the mound and in the field during the 2024 campaign. On the mound, he posted a 4.38 ERA and tallied a 4-1 record in his 15 appearances (10 starts). The lefty worked 49.1 innings, allowing 24 earned runs to score and punched out 53 batters. At the plate, Johnson appeared in 39 games (34 starts) posting a .253 average at the dish. He scored 16 runs, collected 19 hits, six doubles, one triple and three home runs. He drove in 11 RBI, walking 17 times in his freshman campaign.
