DURHAM – On Tuesday morning, the 2024 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-Region Teams were announced in all eight regions and three Duke baseball student-athletes were tabbed to the Atlantic Region teams.
Graduate right-handed pitcher
Charlie Beilenson was named to the first team as a relief pitcher, while graduates
Zac Morris and
Ben Miller were tabbed to the second team.
The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Division I All-America and Coach of the Year Committee. The Chair of the ABCA NCAA Division I All-America and Coach of the Year Committee is Tommy Raffo. The committee also includes Mitch Canham (Oregon State), Dean Ehehalt (Monmouth), Brian Green (Wichita State), Jeff Mercer (Indiana), Brian O'Connor (Virginia), Jim Penders (UConn) and Butch Thompson (Auburn).
Beilenson, the six-foot closer from Los Angeles, Calif., is a Stopper of the Year Finalist following his second season in a Blue Devils uniform. A year removed from setting the program record for appearances with 39 in 2023, Beilenson tied sophomore
James Tallon for the single season saves record at Duke with 12. In 2024, he appeared in 34 games on the mound, posting a 7-3 record with a 2.01 ERA. He worked 62.2 innings, allowing 14 earned runs and striking out 92 batters of the 226 he faced. Beilenson held opponents to a .181 average against and walked 18 batters on the year.
Morris, the 5-foot-11 second baseman from Suffolk, Va., was tabbed to the Norman Regional Team and was an All-ACC First Team second baseman during the 2024 campaign. In his 60 games played, Morris produced a .343 average at the plate, posting an OPS of 1.068. He registered 245 at bats, scoring 69 runs, collecting 84 hits to lead the Blue Devils. Morris added 12 doubles, two triples, a career high 18 home runs, 59 RBI and walked 39 times.
Miller, the 6-foot-1 third baseman from Durham, N.C., was tabbed to the All-ACC First Team and was a Dick Howser Trophy Semifinalist this season. Miller paced all Blue Devils at the plate, posting a .360 average and a 1.083 OPS. In his 228 at bats, he scored 56 runs, 82 hits, 18 doubles, one triple, 15 home runs and drove in 49 RBI. He added 17 walks and was hit by 15 pitches.
