Davidson continues to power the Blue Devils' offense, leading the team in batting average (.436), home runs (18), runs scored (59) and RBI (65). The Lakewood Ranch, Fla., native is one of six players to have started all 54 games this season, primarily in the outfield. Her 65 RBI on the year ranks seventh in the NCAA and has set a Duke single-season record. The senior was unanimously voted ACC Player of the Year and named to the ACC All-Tournament team after guiding Duke to its second ACC Softball Championship title this past Saturday. Davidson was also one of 15 players to be selected in the 2024 Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball Draft Tuesday night.
Tapia earned the second All-Region nod of her Blue Devil career after earning second team honors a season ago. Tapia, a five-year starter, is batting .294 with 45 hits, 33 RBI and just six strikeouts in 145 plate appearances, which ranks 38th in the NCAA. The Long Beach, Calif., native matched the Duke single-game RBI record after tallying eight against Michigan State on Feb. 24. Tapia was also selected as captain for the 2024 campaign, following a vote from the team.
Torres continues to show strength in her final season, batting a career-high .368 with 57 hits, a team-high three triples and 34 RBI. She is one of six Blue Devils to have recorded a grand slam this season, sending out the first bases-clearing blast of her career in Duke's home opener against North Dakota State. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native has been a force behind the plate, throwing out nine runners on the basepath. The senior has also played a crucial role in moving the Blue Devils' baserunners, tallying five sacrifice flies which ranks third in the ACC and 22nd nationally.
Vega has been strong for the Blue Devils at the plate, batting .396 with 19 multi-hit games this season. The DeBary, Fla., native has seen action in 52-of-54 games this season and sits second on the team in home runs (12), doubles (17) and RBI (51). The starting second baseman earned All-Region honors for the second time in her career after being named to the second team last season. Vega was also voted the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and named to the ACC All-Tournament team.
Wright has been stout for the Blue Devils in her final season in the circle, holding an 18-1 record after 29 appearances. She owns a 1.15 ERA, which ranks fourth nationally, and has registered 169 strikeouts in 139.2 innings. In the regular season finale against NC State, Wright fanned a game-high six batters to push her past the 400-career strikeout milestone. The Charlotte, N.C., native now has 429 to her name in 405.1 career innings of work. Wright was unanimously voted ACC Pitcher of the Year and was selected as the ACC Tournament MVP, joining
Peyton St. George as the only Blue Devils to receive the honor.
