DURHAM – Graduate right-hander
Charlie Beilenson was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week on Monday, following his impressive week on the bump for the Blue Devils.
Beilenson, a six-foot closer from Los Angeles, Calif., appeared in three games this week as No. 6 Duke completed the week 3-1 on the road. Beilenson worked 6.2 combined innings this week, allowing one hit and striking out 10 batters. He earned the victory in the Blue Devils' midweek game against Gardner-Webb, before tallying four innings in relief, as Duke opened the series against No. 23 Virginia Tech with a one-run victory in extra-innings.
The righty returned to the mound on Sunday, as Duke scored seven runs in the final three frames to take the series from the Hokies on the road. In that contest, Beilenson recorded his ninth save of the season, locking down the Blue Devils fourth consecutive ACC series victory and the first in Blacksburg, Va., since 2018.
Duke's closer becomes the second Blue Devil this season to earn ACC Pitcher of the Week honors, after
Jonathan Santucci won the award during his week three outing.
