DURHAM – No. 12 Duke hits the road for the second time this season, traveling to Winston-Salem, N.C., to open ACC play with No. 1 Wake Forest for the second consecutive season. The last time Duke faced the No. 1 team in the country was in 2016, when the Blue Devils hosted Miami at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Head coach
Chris Pollard won his 350th career game at Duke on Tuesday, defeating Appalachian State 28-2 at Jack Coombs Field. The 26-run victory was the largest margin of victory over Appalachian State and the 28 runs were tied for the second most in program history and the most since 1939.

- The Blue Devils have continued to pounce on opponents like they did throughout the 2023 season. Duke has recorded 80 of its 129 runs so far this season from the fourth to eighth innings. That number accounts for 62% of the Blue Devils' run production this season.

- Graduate transfer Ben Miller has been scorching hot to start the 2024 campaign, collecting hits in the first 12 games of the season. Miller has posted a .500 average at the plate, scoring 15 runs, 24 hits, six doubles, seven home runs and 18 RBI. He also has added three walks and been hit by three pitches. The Durham, N.C., native posts a 1.063 slugging percentage and a .556 on base percentage heading into the fourth weekend of play. He ranks fourth in the country in hits, leading the ACC, and fifth in the country in home runs, second in the ACC.
- The name of the game is scoring first and scoring in bunches for the Blue Devils. Since 2016, Duke has compiled a 181-58 (.757) record when scoring first and a staggering 193-40 (.828) record when scoring three or more runs in an inning.
- Duke's starting pitching has been lights out to this point in the season, bringing in a 1.36 ERA with a perfect 9-0 record in games they earned the decision. They have completed three shutouts and worked 46.1 innings on the mound, allowing seven earned runs to pass. Opponents are batting .194 off the Blue Devils' starters and have punched out 73 times.
