DURHAM – Duke junior left-handed pitcher
Jonathan Santucci was tabbed as the ACC's Pitcher of the Week, following his career performance in the Blue Devils 6-0 victory over the Akron Zips on Friday.
The Leominster, Mass., native worked a career high six innings and punched out 14 batters as he improved to 3-0 on the season. Santucci enters ACC play leading the league in strikeouts with 31 and has yet to allow a run to score this season. Opponents are batting .169 off the lefty and has allowed 10 hits in his 17 innings this season.
Duke's Friday night pitcher becomes the first Blue Devils player to win Player or Pitcher of the Week honors from the league since
Joey Loperfido in May of 2021.
Santucci was also tabbed as Duke's PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week for his performance against the Zips.
No. 12 Duke concludes its 10-game home stand this week hosting Appalachian State and Georgetown on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. First pitch for both contests is scheduled for 4 p.m. from Jack Coombs Field.
