COLUMBUS, Ohio - Foilists Christina Ferrari and Charlotte Koenig captured All-America honors to highlight the women's event of the NCAA Fencing Championships in Columbus, Ohio.Â
Ferrari collected All-America honors for the third time in her Duke career with an eighth-place finish, while freshman Koenig finished ninth in her first event on the national stage.Â
Ferrari becomes the first three-time All-American honoree in Duke women's foil history and just the third Duke women's fencer to win the honor at least three times.Â
After two days of competition, Duke is currently in ninth place in the team standings with 50 points.Â
Harvard leads the way with 87 points, followed by Columbia (81), Notre Dame (73), Princeton (64) and St. John's (60) to round out the top five.Â
After the first day of competition on Thursday, Koenig was in third place after three rounds of pool play with a strong showing with 11 victories as Ferrari sat in sixth with 10. Both fencers finished with 13 wins following Friday's competition. Â
Kunling Tong was just shy of All-America accolades as she finished in 13th in the saber competition. Fellow saberist Natalie Olsen finished 24th overall, while Rachel Kowalsky (epee) placed 22nd in her respective event.Â
With the women's portion of the NCAA Championship finalized, the men hit the strips Saturday and Sunday to round out the 2024 collegiate season. Representing Duke will be Allen Marakov (epee) and Samir Travers (saber), beginning at 9 a.m.
